Sound analysis: blog tasks

1) Find a film clip on YouTube that uses sound in an interesting way. Analyse the use of sound, making sure you use the key language we have learned about sound in film:

Diegetic and non-diegetic sound

Parallel and contrapuntal sound

Sound bridges

Remember to discuss/analyse all the different types of sound present in the clip:

Music

Dialogue

Voiceover

Sound effects

You also need to highlight or put in bold any use of media language.

The opening to legally blonde plays the song 'A perfect day' this sound is non-diegetic as it isn't being played on anything that can be seen on the scene and the characters carry on with what they are doing as if they can not hear the music. The song 'A perfect day' is a parallel sound that was chosen in order to represent how the girls in the sorority and especially Elle Woods the main character who thinks that this is the day that her boyfriend is going to propose to her making her feel like that day is the perfect one. Furthermore the song also fits with the appearance of the university campus  where everyone seems to be having a great time reflecting the up beat feel of the song. Later on in the clip we hear the diegetic sound of the sorority sisters talking to each other in a friendly manner further cementing the idea that they are kind people who care about each other.
