Sound video feedback and learner response

1) Type up your feedback from your teacher.

  • This is a superb production - well done! You've met the brief perfectly and the choice of music is a big part of this.
  • The parallel section is perfect in terms of pace and I'm impressed how you've blended live action and animation successfully.
  • Contrapuntal section got audible laugh from class which is always a good sign. Perhaps the third choice of clip for this section is not quite so contrapuntal.

2) Type up your feedback from fellow students - you can summarise key points if several students give you similar feedback.

WWW

  • Good sound choice
  • Clips fit well
  • Good choice of clips

EBI

  • Clips were too long

3) Now reflect on your work and write your own evaluation of your video. Write a 'What went well' (WWW) paragraph and a paragraph for 'Even Better If' (EBI) underneath the rest of your feedback.

WWW: The song I picked fit well and the parallel clips fit well with the song while the contrapuntal section was contrapuntal

EBI: I could have used more clips and used a different final clip that was more clear on what emotion was showing.

4) Learner response: compare your own video against your evaluation of the top three videos in the class. Whose did you think was best and why? How could you have improved your own video?

I think the top three videos were Khaterah's, Matas' and Cassius' as they all edited the videos to fit with the music like when Khaterah made the video only show while the music could be heard at the start of the video and how Matas had scenes that fit well together like the gunshot leading into the explosion on the bridge. I could have tried to feature some more purposeful editing in my video.

5) Finally, what have you learned about the importance of sound to film and TV through this week's work?

Through this weeks work I have seen how important sound is in film and TV in order to make scenes appear more natural. Furthermore through the use of parallel and contrapuntal sound they are able to create a specific atmosphere that influences the way that the audience perceives the scene. Additionally diegetic and non-diegetic sound helps to immerse the audience into the work while also potentially giving foreshadowing or information on the story.
