Blog feedback and learner response

WWW: You’ve made an absolutely brilliant start to A Level Media on the coursework side – well done! Your blog is fully up to date and you’ve already created an impressive, challenging practical production. Alongside this, you’ve written some excellent analysis of the film posters (picking up on lighting, colour and other key signifiers) as well as the two scenes you wrote about for mise-en-scene. Keep up the good work!

EBI: The only aspect I can mention in terms of future improvement is your mise-en-scene LR. Try and add a bit more depth/reflection to your LR tasks in future (particularly following assessments) as I find that students who reflect on feedback and assessments in real depth tend to go on to achieve the very top grades in the subject.

Reflect on your first month of Film & TV Language. What aspect of Film & TV language have you most enjoyed studying? What is your strongest piece of work so far? What is your weakest? What specific skills or knowledge do you need to develop before we start coursework at the end of Year 12?

During my first month of film & tv language I have enjoyed studying mise-en-scene as it has helped me understand the different decisions made by producers in their work and the reasons as to why they have chosen to use what they did. I think my strongest piece of work so far would be my 'film poster analysis' as it challenged me to think about how the producer was using mise-en-scene to portray the different genres. I think my weakest piece of work so far is is my mise-en-scene LR as I didn't spend as long as I would have liked to on it which lead to it not being complete to a high standard. I need to develop my knowledge of media terminology.
