Film Poster Analysis


1)What do you think the film is about and what might the storyline be?

- The man at the top of the poster appears to be the main characters of the story as he is the largest thing on the poster which draws the viewers attention to him, the story takes place in the future which can be inferred from the futuristic buildings and flying vehicle. The woman on the right of the poster is smaller than the man which implies that she is important to the story but not the main character. The props the actors are holding give the readers some insight into what their characters may be like, for example the gun connotes power and authority.             

2)What genre(s) do you think the film belongs to?

-The various futuristic designs featured on the poster show the audience that one of the potential genres of the movie is sci-fi. Furthermore the gun being held by the main character suggests that there may be action scenes in the movie as well, additionally the iconography of the cigarette is associated with film noir and the femme fatale.

3)Who do you think is the target audience? 

-The target audience for this movie would be older teens to young adults as the sci-fi genre is mostly popular with that age demographic however there would have been a slightly older audience drawn to the neo noir aspects of the film

1)What do you think the film is about and what might the storyline be?

- Through all the different references to different horror movies that were popular at the time of this movies creation such as the man dressed as the priest from the conjuring, the "What Lies Beneath" t-shirt worn by the female character to the left and the scream font we can tell that this is intended to be a parody/spoof of the original movies.

2)What genre(s) do you think the film belongs to?

- The review quote at the top of the poster and the name of the movie tells us that this is a comedy movie. Furthermore all the different references on the poster shows that its a parody of different movies and gives a hint to the audience as to what movies may be parodied in scary movie 2

3)Who do you think is the target audience?

-This movie targets older teens and young adults who are interested in the horror genre but also just people who enjoy comedy movies as it isn't intended to be an actual horror movie.

1)What do you think the film is about and what might the storyline be?
-The focus on the background shows that the protagonist may feel isolated from others, this idea is further shown due to there only being one person on the poster showing that he may not have any people around him. The dark colours could reflect his emotional state implying that he's currently going through a dark period of his life potentially because something bad has happened to him or someone who was close to him

2)What genre(s) do you think the film belongs to?
-As suggested by the melancholic setting, this may be a drama which focuses on the man rediscovering himself after a tragic event which could also imply that there may be some elements of mystery as we discover what happened to him

3)Who do you think is the target audience?

- Due to it being a foreign language film it wouldn't be very popular with a mainstream audience but instead it may be an art house movie as suggested by the grand prix cannes award displayed on top of the name, this means that it was intended for a more "educated" or "cultured" audience which means that it also targets older people.

1)What do you think the film is about and what might the storyline be?
- A young boy discovers something that he shouldn't have while exploring a hole in the ground like a body or another person this than leads to him having to confront his fears where hell have to overcome them in order to either help the person or escape from a dangerous scenario.
2)What genre(s) do you think the film belongs to?
- The tagline of the movie states that the movie is a thriller however this is also implied through the title, the characters anxious expression and the review stating that the movie was "filmed with...visual intensity". 
3)Who do you think is the target audience?
- I think that due to the main character being a young child the target audience would also be younger

storyline be?
- I think that the film is potentially about a city that has a lot of criminals with the main characters either being a part of the high levels of crime or potentially trying to solve it, The character in the centre appears to be the main character as he is the most prominent character on the poster with the characters on either side of him being potential allies or enemies.

2)What genre(s) do you think the film belongs to?
-A majority of the characters are holding a weapon in their hands implying that this is going to be an action movie. Furthermore the monochromatic colour scheme and the casts costumes suggest that the movie is influenced by film noir and potentially being in the neo-noir genre.

3)Who do you think is the target audience?
-The main demographic would be adults due to the violence and the neo-noir genre which tends to be more popular with older audiences but the action may attract younger audiences.

storyline be?
-The main characters at the top of the poster are pirates exploring the Caribbean on a journey to find the "dead mans chest" but their journey on the oceans is dangerous as they have to deal with different monsters and other pirates who are also trying to find the same treasure.
2)What genre(s) do you think the film belongs to?
The musket being held by one of the characters and the monsters in the ocean imply that their is some action in the movie. The title and the boats also imply that it is an adventure movie as they are going on an adventure on their boats in order to find the "dead man's chest". Furthermore the giant tentacle shows that its going to be fantasy as well.
3)Who do you think is the target audience?
- The target audience is younger teens and up as they are most likely to enjoy a pirate adventure.

- The film may be a modern day retelling of the book "Pride and prejudice" by Jane Austen that takes place in both America and India
2)What genre(s) do you think the film belongs to?
- The review quote for the movie tells us that it may be a romcom this is also shown in the title with it having "bride" instead of "pride". Furthermore the two characters facing away from each other may imply that its also a drama with a conflict between the two main characters.
3)Who do you think is the target audience?
- Due to it being a Bollywood movie the main it would mainly target an Indian demographic however due to the inclusion of American culture it may reach a more mainstream audience.

1)What do you think the film is about and what might the storyline be?
- The woman in the centre is attempting to become a professional boxer which can be seen due to her wearing a sports bra and having her hair in a protective hairstyle often used by woman in professional boxing
2)What genre(s) do you think the film belongs to?
- The use of  the chiaroscuro lighting effect shows that it may be an intense drama 
3)Who do you think is the target audience?
- Older people who can appreciate and relate to the struggles that the main character goes through on her journey to improve.
